Volunteering in PfISD
-
Who made a difference in your life? Can you do the same for a child in PfISD?
Thank you for your willingness to give your time and talent to serve as a volunteer in our schools. Your personal commitment provides our students with a valuable role model of responsible citizenship and impacts student achievement in a positive way, whether directly or indirectly.
National research shows that it is important for our youth to have at least three non-parent adults whom they can trust. With your help, our young people can overcome adversity, succeed in school, and become community leaders.
Volunteers are a much-appreciated and highly respected group of people who make up a very important part of our educational team. The educators and staff have witnessed firsthand the magic of volunteer partnerships between our community and its schools. Volunteers can read to students, tutor in a particular subject area, work in the library, or assist with special events. There is almost no end to opportunities as a volunteer.
Whether you serve as a parent, grandparent, business representative, or community member, your participation in all volunteer endeavors is essential in developing our greatest asset - our youth. We salute you, not only for your interest but for your action! We hope your experience as a volunteer will be rewarding and that your life will be richer for the time you spend with our children.

Volunteers must apply two (2) - four (4) weeks before the anticipated event to ensure participation in student activities and field trips.

Volunteer FAQ
-
Who must complete the Volunteer Application?
If you regularly volunteer and your efforts meet any of the following criteria, please complete the online Volunteer Application as early as possible.
- You are a Parent or non-Parent volunteer and may be unaccompanied at any time by a PfISD employee. (i.e., Mentors, Watch D.O.G. Dads, classroom, cafeteria, library and field-day volunteers, dance and field trip chaperones, etc.)
- You are not a parent, grandparent or guardian of a student enrolled on the campus where you will be volunteering.
- A PfISD administrator requests that you complete a volunteer application.
-
How are applicants approved or not approved?
The same matrix used to approve applicants for employment is used to approve volunteer applicants. Pflugerville ISD will not attempt to prohibit parents from participating in their own child’s education. For more specific details, please contact 512-594-0000.
-
Can I visit the campus, or my child, without completing the Volunteer Application?
Yes. This process will not affect parents who simply wish to visit their child during the school day.
