Greetings Westview Family! Please see below for important campus information.
Youth Code Jam:
Youth Code Jam is excited to bring a family coding event to Austin. The event is open to all K-12 students and their parents/guardian. No previous coding experience is required.
Students are invited to bring a parent/guardian and explore some of the coolest coding and CS activities available, from programmable cars to CS languages to virtual reality. We ask that families to bring their own laptops, but if students don’t have a laptop available from home, we do have ones to borrow on a first come, first served basis. There will be coding for every age and every level (even beginners!).
And best of all, Youth Code Jam instills an excitement for creative computing in both students AND parents that can continue to grow. Youth Code Jam wants to ensure this unique opportunity is accessible to all students.
More information about Youth Code Jam is HERE. Space is limited, so ensure your place by registering soon using the Sign up to attend link.

Greetings Westview family! Please read below for important campus information and activities.
Sept. 19, 2018
Tutorial Buses Sept. 17:
Tutorials started on Monday, Sept. 17, and are held Monday through Thursday from 3:40 p.m. - 4:10 p.m. Monday is Social Studies, Tuesday is Math, Wednesday is Science, and Thursday is ELA. Those particular days are considered priority days for those subject areas; however, students may schedule a time with a teacher in any subject Monday-Thursday. Parents will be informed by teachers when students have scheduled tutorials. We will provide tutorial buses, which will pick students up at 5 p.m. in the front of the school, and will take home students who are required to stay for tutorials.
GO Time Oct. 15:
We will begin our intervention and enrichment time for all students beginning Oct. 15. GO Time is a 30-minute intervention/enrichment class held every day and the purpose is to support the academic success of ALL Westview MS students. Students will be assigned to a teacher throughout the year and will engage in activities that develop them socially, emotionally and academically.
PSAT 8/9 Oct. 3:
PSAT 8/9 is an exam that will be given to all PFISD 8th grade students during the school day on Oct. 3. It offers students an opportunity to take a nationally-normed test in a timed-section format. The PSAT has no impact on your student’s grades, report card or permanent record. It is, however, a wonderful opportunity to gain experience and identify areas for potential growth. There is no prior preparation necessary for this exam. PSAT 8/9 Score Reports will be received in early January.
PSAT 8/9 is a test that provides practice for, and early exposure to, college entrance exams. PSAT 8/9 is the first exam in the SAT Suite of Assessments, which includes the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT. PSAT 8/9 establishes a baseline for college and career readiness as students enter high school. Since the PSAT is vertically aligned with the PSAT/NMSQT, students may preview the content and test structure using the PSAT prep materials. Keep in mind, the PSAT/NMSQT is a junior level assessment and the PSAT 8/9 is targeted to 8th and 9th grade level students. For access to free resources, please click here.
Veteran’s Day Program Nov. 8:
On Nov. 8, 2018 at 9:00 a.m., WMS will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Program to honor all veterans within the Westview community. We are asking that, if you have a veteran in your family who would like to be a part of this ceremony, let them know about this event. Apart from the ceremony, we will also provide a small breakfast beforehand for Veteran’s and their WMS student at 8:00am in the library. Please let us know if you plan to join us for this event, as we want to make sure we don’t miss honoring anyone who attends! Please click on the link below to sign your honoree up for this event! Please email Lisa Lopez at Lisa.Lopez@pfisd.net if you have any further questions or need additional information. Click here to sign up: https://goo.gl/forms/4o7JNfJ8k09AzJ5y2
