A student asked me yesterday, “Mrs. Shaum, why did you make us come to school and it was 19 degrees outside?”  Although it is great to be snuggled by the fire on cold days, making those missed days up is no fun. L  The state formerly required districts to meet a specific number of instructional days.  They changed this requirement a couple of years ago to instructional minutes required, and the days met were at the discretion of the district.  Due to the late start and the bad weather day, we are required to make-up time to meet those instructional minutes.  More information will be coming from the Superintendent regarding the plan for make-up.       We will keep you updated as information is made public.

    DISMISSAL:

Thank you for honoring our campus safety initiative and bringing your parent pick-up dismissal cards daily.  We are happy to provide you with as many cards as you need.  If you forget your card, you will be asked to present your id in the main office.  If your child’s teacher is present and knows you, they can release your child to you without a card one time as a courtesy, but we request that you bring your card subsequent times.  You can give a set of cards to others that regularly pick up  your children, or use in two different vehicles so you won’t have to remember the cards daily.
