Destination Imagination Showcase on May 18

May 9, 2019

With two teams headed to the Destination Imagination Global Finals later this month, Pflugerville ISD invites the community to a Destination Imagination Showcase to see the teams perform locally on Saturday, May 18.
Education nonprofit Destination Imagination annually hosts competitions in which school-aged contestants solve team challenges at regional and state/national levels to advance to the global stage. Challenge categories vary, based in science, technology, engineering, arts, math and service learning. The Creative Crayons and The Other Guys advanced to the Global Finals with their showings at the state competition in Corpus Christi in March.
The Destination Imagination Showcase is free to attend and starts at 5 p.m. at Timmerman Elementary. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and team members will be selling raffle tickets before the performances. A silent auction will also be held to help fundraise for the DI programs.
The Creative Crayons advanced in the Escape Artists, Elementary Level service learning category. Team members are from Caldwell Elementary (Gracen Ramirez, Will O’Connor and McKenna O’Connor), Mott Elementary (Frankie O’Shaughnessy) and Timmerman Elementary (Bryce Howard and Helga Mueller). Team managers are Dan and Louise Howard.
The Other Guys advanced in the Medical Mystery, Middle Level scientific category. Members are from Kelly Lane Middle (Victor Bendixen), Pflugerville Middle School (Rudolf Bendixen, Kenneth Kalu, Elena Howard and Emma Edwards), Timmerman Elementary (Bryce Howard) and Windermere Elementary (Jameson Messer). Team managers are Rachelle Bendixen and Louise Howard.
Destination Imagination is in its 20th year of hosting team challenge competitions. More than 150,000 students across the U.S. and in 30-plus countries annually participate in the DI Challenge Experience program.
Global Finals will be May 22-25 in Kansas City, Missouri. PfISD has seen previous success in Destination Imagination with The Creative Crayons and another team from Pflugerville Middle School representing the District at Global Finals last year.
