Sept. 12, 2018

Pflugerville ISD will honor late Pflugerville High School football coach Charles Kuempel before the Panthers’ football game against Elgin Thursday at The Pfield.

Charles Kuempel, who coached at Pflugerville High School from 1955-74, passed away in October 2017. The Panthers won 55 consecutive games from 1958-62, setting a national schoolboy record.

Kuempel and his cousin led the Panthers as they won district, bi-district and regional championships in 1958, ‘59, ‘60 and ‘61, as well as bi-district championships in 1963 and ‘64.

The public is invited to attend a brief ceremony in honor of Coach Kuempel shortly before the game’s 7 p.m. kickoff.
