O’Connor named Cele principal

Ben O’Connor The Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees on Tuesday approved the appointment of Ben O’Connor as Cele Middle School principal.

O’Connor most recently served as principal for Rowe Lane Elementary. He took over in that capacity in 2014, after a year as an assistant principal at Rowe Lane.

He was previously an assistant principal at Kelly Lane Middle School from 2009-13 and administrative intern at Westview Middle School from 2008-09.

“Ben has stressed innovation in his approach,” PfISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Doug Killian said of O’Connor. “We’re excited to see him at work at Cele.”

Having just completed his 20th year in education, O’Connor began his career at Westview, serving as an English Language Arts and social studies teacher from 1999-2007. He was a coach and an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) teacher and site coordinator at Westview. 

He holds a master’s in educational administration and bachelor’s degrees in English and history from the University of Texas. O’Connor has also attended The Principals’ Center graduate school of education at Harvard University.

He has previously mentored prospective principals, is a Dell Certified Educational Leader and was named Westview Teacher of the Year in 2001.

A replacement for O’Connor at Rowe Lane has not yet been named.
