Much To Be Thankful For @ PCMS!

Posted by Zachary Kleypas on 11/22/2019

Greetings Pumas,

Happy Friday! Here we are, the much anticipated Thanksgiving Break! I know I have so much to be thankful for each and every day. I am blessed with a beautiful family (that is about to welcome a new addition), I am blessed to work at an amazing school with Gold medal students, staff, and families, and I am blessed to be a part of Pflugerville ISD where we do what is in the best interest of students every day.

I hope that you will all take some time to enjoy family and relax next week whether it be near or far. I know that our teachers and students have put in a lot of work since August when we started, and this time to rejuvenate is critical to our ongoing success. May you have a safe holiday and we look forward to everyone returning on Monday, Dec. 2nd, 2019.

Don’t Get Sick:

This week was a tough week for our kiddos (and adults) regarding getting sick. The flu, colds, and other symptoms are all around us! We had approximately 100 kids out each day this week. For perspective, we average closer to 20-25 per day (out of 975). That is crazy! Please encourage your kiddos to wash their hands, get plenty of sleep, and drink lots of water. Those are the best preventions to getting sick.

Thank You PTO and Parents!

Our staff were treated today with some amazing sweet treats through our annual PTO Sweet Treats delivery! For this event each staff member on campus was able to choose a lovely holiday pie, cookies, cake, sweet bread, or other delicious treats donated by our community. There were A LOT of happy adults in the building today. Thanks for being so awesome and supporting my teachers and staff this holiday season.

Junior Honor Society:

Our 2019-20 Park Crest Junior Honor Society students were inducted on Tuesday of this week. It is always an awesome ceremony that symbolizes so much hard work, dedication, and character. We were honored to have a keynote speech from Mayor Victor Gonzales at the ceremony. Congratulations to our new Honor Society students. I can’t wait to see the positive impact they will have on Park Crest and our community.

One Act Play:

I had the privilege of watching our One Act Play perform here at Park Crest last weekend and it was a real treat. I still am amazed at how these kids are able to master so many lines! Check out this picture of our Gold Medal Crew:

They are competing this weekend in One Act Play district competition, so wish them luck!

Fall Pep Rally:

Today was our fall pep rally which symbolizes a congratulations to the great seasons of cross country, volleyball, and football as well as encouragement and support for our basketball season that is gearing up. It was awesome to see our student groups perform and excite our student body. It was a great way to boost Pride and school morale as we head into the break!

Extra-curricular Review:

Boys’ basketball: The boys battled hard this week but only the 7th grade B team came up with a victory against Dessau.

Girls Basketball: The girls had a strong first showing as all four teams had great wins to start the season. One of them was a real nail biter!

Next 2-Week’s Preview:
