Cele Update: Oct. 6
Posted by Marcial Guajardo on 10/6/2019 1:00:00 PM
Colt Families,
Our students have a four-day week ahead and a four-day week next week. Friday, Oct. 11 and Monday, Oct. 14, are holidays for PfISD students. This allows our hard-working Cele staff an opportunity to perform some intensive planning in response to what we have learned about our students this first nine-weeks. Our job is to challenge each and every student to keep them engaged and learning throughout the school year. Parents, if you have not logged into your Skyward parent account yet, you will want to do so. Being able to engage in conversation with your child about his or her performance in class has a tremendous influence. Our nine-week grading period is coming to a close and report cards will be coming home soon. Login to check up on your student’s performance today and on a regular basis.
Read on for details of the week ahead!

District Champs in Cross Country!
Congratulations to our Colt Runners on a fantastic season! Our girls finished second in the district, and our boys took first place, finishing as District Champions! Thank you to Coach McKinley for a great season and a great start to the school year. Looking forward to seeing another banner hoisted in the gym!
Late Bus now Available
Parents, did you know that we have transportation available for Cele students who want to stay for tutorials or participate in clubs on Tuesday and Thursday? Cele students once again will have a late bus available to allow more students to take advantage of the assistance and opportunities offered after school.
In order to be allowed on the bus, students must have made arrangements in advance with parents and a teacher to stay after school. A teacher will verify that the student was present for the planned activity. Students must know their regularly assigned bus number and their address. Buses will depart school at approximately 5 p.m., and travel time home will depend upon how many stops are required.
Free and Reduced Price Lunch Applications
Any students who did not submit an application to requalify for free or reduced prices on lunch have been charged for their meals beginning this past week. Even if your child previously qualified, applications need to be resubmitted every year. We want to make sure we assist every eligible family, and we encourage every family to submit the simple application. Follow this link.
Parents, if you are unsure as to whether or not you might qualify, feel free to call (512)-594-0430.
Festival of Bands Monday
Monday, beginning at 7 p.m., our Cele band and all bands across PfISD will gather at the Pfield for a group performance. This event is open to the public and not to be missed. Come on out and support our Cele Band and the Fine Arts department in PfISD while enjoying an uncommon show!
Football **Change in location**
Our seventh grade Colts play TUESDAY this week and will take on Park Crest Middle School at the Pfield. Please make note of this change of venue. On Tuesday, eighth grade will play PCMS here at home.
Reminder: Tickets are $2 for students and $4 for parents/guests. All Cele Athletic Schedules linked here.
Volleyball
This Thursday our seventh grade Lady Colts host Park Crest here at Cele, and the 8th grade team will travel to PCMS.
Reminder: Tickets are $2 for students and $4 for parents/guests. All Cele Athletic Schedules linked here.
Letterman-style Jackets Available
Our Colts now have the chance to order Letterman-Style jackets to show their Cele Pride and affiliation with some of the many activities at Cele. They are stylish and high-quality, and beside keeping students warm as the cooler weather approaches, they make a great keepsake of each student’s middle school years at Cele. See this link for details.
The form may be printed and returned with cash or check to a band or science teacher by Oct. 15, or, parents may visit this link to purchase by credit card.
First Day Packets
I need you to think way back to our first week of school. Among all the communication that was happening, some important paperwork was sent home – our first day packets. We still have not received first day packets from all families, and we really could use your assistance.
Contact information can only be updated if we receive the correct information from you via those packets. Please help us update our records by sending in those packets or requesting a new one. We are happy to accommodate.
PSAT THIS Wednesday
Our eighth grade students will be taking the PSAT on Oct. 9. This test is from College Board, and the idea is to expose students to the format of the PSAT testing. The results of the test can be used to indicate Pre-AP and AP courses that may be appropriate for your child in high school.
If you have any questions, please contact Stefanie Zook (8th grade counselor) at Stefanie.zook@pfisd.net or Sara Moore (7th grade counselor) at sara.moore@pfisd.net
