Cele Update: Oct. 14

Posted by Marcial Guajardo on 10/15/2019 2:00:00 PM

Colt Families,
I trust you enjoyed the long weekend with family. Our teachers took advantage of the opportunity Friday to work with teams on two critical factors that make Cele a very special place: making meaningful relationships with each student, and making sure every student gets a little smarter each day. I am so grateful for the incredible teaching staff and leadership we have at Cele. Our teachers dedicate themselves to our kids in countless ways.

Read on for details of the week ahead!

Report Cards
The first nine-week grading period has come to a close, and our first Report Card will be sent home this Thursday. Parents and Students can preview report card grades through the Skyward Family Access portal beginning at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.

Picture Day Oct. 23
Student Picture day will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, and picture forms will be sent home this Thursday with report cards. All students will have pictures taken for the yearbook, and parents wishing to purchase picture packets of their child may do so by returning the picture form with cash or check.

Rumble in the ‘Ville Wednesday
Join Pflugerville ISD on Wednesday Oct. 16 at the Hendrickson Hawk Stadium for a fun event where our very own Pflugerville Police Department competes against the Pflugerville Falcons Special Olympics flag football team in the annual event.

Free and Reduced Price Lunch Applications
Any students who did not submit an application to requalify for free or reduced lunch prices have been charged for their meals beginning this past week. Even if your child previously qualified, applications need to be resubmitted every year.

We want to make sure we assist every eligible family, and we encourage every family to submit the simple application here. Parents, if you are unsure as to whether or not you might qualify, feel free to call (512)-594-0430.

Parent Survey

Attached is a link to a School/Family/ Community Partnership Evaluation form. We will use this survey to assess school-wide progress in strengthening partnerships between Cele personnel, Cele families and community members. We welcome any feedback we gain from the answers you provide. Additionally, we will be having a meeting on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. at Cele lead by Cody Beseda, one of our teachers on campus, to discuss and seek more detailed feedback in the areas defined by the survey.

Thank you for your participation.

Late Bus now Available

Parents, did you know that we have transportation available for Cele students who want to stay for tutorials or participate in clubs on Tuesday and Thursday?

Cele students once again will have a late bus available to allow more students to take advantage of the assistance and opportunities offered after school. In order to be allowed on the bus, students must have made arrangements in advance with parents and a teacher to stay after school. A teacher will verify that the student was present for the planned activity. Students must know their regularly assigned bus number and their address.

Buses will depart school at approximately 5 p.m., and travel time home will depend upon how many stops are required.

Football

Our 7th grade Colts play Tuesday this week and will take on Kelly Lane Middle School at Cele. On Wednesday, eighth-grade will play KLMS at the Pfield. Reminder: Tickets are $2 for students and $4 for parents/guests. All Cele Athletic Schedules linked here.

Volleyball

This Thursday our seventh-grade Lady Colts travel to Park Crest Middle Scholl, and the eighth-grade team will host PCMS here at Cele. Reminder: Tickets are $2 for students and $4 for parents/guests. All Cele Athletic Schedules linked here.

Letterman-style Jackets Final Day

Our Colts now have the chance to order Letterman-Style jackets to show their Cele Pride and affiliation with some of the many activities at Cele. They are stylish and high-quality, and beside keeping students warm as the cooler weather approaches, they make a great keepsake of each student’s middle school years at Cele. See this link for details. The form may be printed and returned with cash or check to a band or science teacher by Oct. 15, or, parents may visit this link to purchase by credit card.

First Day Packets

I need you to think way back to our first week of school. Among all the communication that was happening, some important paperwork was sent home – our first day packets. We still have not received first day packets from all families, and we really could use your assistance. Contact information can only be updated if we receive the correct information from you via those packets. Please help us update our records by sending in those packets or requesting a new one. We are happy to accommodate.
