Speech and Debate Team with Educators
Finally, one of the pillars of the NSDA (and Hendrickson Speech & Debate) is Service. To reinforce the importance of serving others and giving back to the community through using your voice and time, NSDA awards students who earn the maximum allowed service points in any given year with the NSDA Excellence in Service award. Each year, fewer than 100 students across the country achieve this honor. Audrey Fife, Afy Masoumi, and Kaitlyn Nash are all recipients of this award for 2021-2022. Each of these young people represent Hendrickson in the community by serving in (and leading) various organizations both on and off campus, and all have proven that they are dedicated to serving others.
Again, congratulations to these students on their success and continued commitment to academic excellence as a representative of Hendrickson and PFISD.

Students Lauded for Life-Saving Efforts
Posted by Emilie Turner on 5/25/2022Join us in recognizing two Hendrickson High School EMT students, Clara Buwule and Abbi Hinds, for their recent life-saving efforts. On Wednesday, both students received certificates of recognition from Georgetown Fire Department and challenge coins from Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2/ Pflugerville Fire Department.
Clara Buwule and Abbi Hinds with local OfficialsIn March, Buwule, as an EMT student, helped to keep a patient alive at Seton Medical Center Williamson, by applying chest compressions.
The following month, Hinds arrived with Georgetown paramedics at a nursing home to find a staff member performing CPR on a patient, who became unresponsive. Hinds was among those who performed CPR until the patient became responsive.
The students take classes in the Pflugerville ISD Career and Technical Education Healthcare Therapeutic-EMT program at Hendrickson High School. Students learn about and hone emergency medical skills in the campus laboratory, participate in hospital ER rotations and on-duty ambulance rides and can earn a National Registry EMT certification for free.
