TEXAS BLUEBONNET AWARD
The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading program is based on a list created by the Texas Library Association. In order to participate, students in grades 3-5 must have read, or have heard read, five books from the list of 20 by the end of January. Students who have completed at least five books may vote on their favorite book at the end of January. Votes are counted, sent to TBA headquarters and the statewide favorite is announced in February. The winning author is honored with a luncheon at the annual TLA conference in April.
The books are introduced to students in fall during library class. Students then have until January to read (or have heard read) at least five current year Bluebonnet titles in order to be eligible to vote.
