• Employment Eligible for TRS Membership

    ​As a condition of employment, an employee must be a member of the Teacher Retirement System if employed in a position in a Texas public educational institution that is eligible for membership in TRS.

    TRS Deductions

    Deductions are from employee’s gross salary at a rate of 8.35% (7.70% - retirement portion, which is tax sheltered; and .65% - non-refundable TRS health insurance portion).
