Kindergarten Two-Way Dual Language Program

  • How do I apply?

    • ATTEND: A Two-Way DL Program Parent Meeting. These meetings are required for the application process. The dates will be published in mid-January via the PfISD website, the Multilingual Department website, elementary campus websites and district social media. Our department hosts 5 meetings, one at each campus. These meetings will be scheduled for late March and April. You must attend one meeting for your application to be considered.
    • APPLICATION PROCESS: Applications are submitted online and will only be accepted on the specific dates that are published on the PfISD website, elementary campus websites and district social media. The applications will open after the final Two-Way Parent Information Meeting is held and is open for several weeks. Applications will not be accepted after the set deadline.
      • All incoming kindergartners must be 5 years old by September 1st.
      • Students must live within the PfISD boundaries.
      • In order for the application to be considered, a parent/guardian must have attended a parent information meeting and submit the online application by the due date.
      • Only one application must be filled out per incoming kindergarten student. Please note that if your child has already completed their kindergarten year in an accredited school, the application will not be accepted.
      • Any communication regarding the results of the lottery process will be sent via email.
    • SELECTION PROCESS: The program is open to incoming English-proficient new kindergarten students who reside within the PfISD boundaries. Students do not need to be zoned to any of the participating campuses. If the number of applicants exceeds the available space at the designated DL campus, a lottery process will take place. Upon completion of the lottery process, our department will contact all applicants with the results. Please note that completion of the application does not guarantee placement into the PfISD DL Program.

    • SIBLINGS: Siblings of Spanish Learners (not English Learners) currently enrolled in the PfISD DL program have priority. Please note that entry is not automatic; you MUST complete an online application in order to guarantee a space and avoid the lottery process.

    • TRANSPORTATION: PfISD does not provide transportation for Spanish Learners participating in the program.
