Calendar Survey

As we plan for the 2026-2027 school year, we value your input in shaping an academic calendar that meets the needs of our students, families, and staff. Pflugerville ISD strives to create a balanced and thoughtful calendar that supports high-quality instruction, considers family schedules, and accommodates important holidays and professional development for our educators.

The proposed calendar options were thoughtfully developed by the District Academic Advisory Council (DAAC), a group of parents, staff, and community members who work collaboratively to ensure the calendar reflects our district's diverse needs.

The DAAC presents two (2) 26-27 calendars for your consideration and feedback. See below for calendars in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. After reviewing the calendars, please take a few minutes to complete this survey to ensure your voice is considered. The survey will remain open until December 10, 2025.

How PfISD Creates the School Calendar

Every year, Pflugerville ISD works hard to create a school calendar that meets the needs of students, teachers, and the community. The process is a team effort involving input from community members, teachers/staff, and district leaders. The goal is to balance everyone’s needs while ensuring that students and teachers have the best opportunities to succeed.

Goals of the School Calendar

The school calendar is designed to:

  • Help students do their best in school.
  • Support teachers and staff in their work.
  • Treat all students fairly.
  • Align with educational partners, such as Austin Community College, and other nearby districts.
  • Follow state laws and district rules.

How the Calendar is Made

1. Drafting Calendar Options

A volunteer committee called the District Academic Advisory Council (DAAC) begins by creating multiple calendars and proposes two options. They make sure the calendars include important things like enough learning time for students, teacher workdays, and holidays.

2. Getting Feedback from the Community

Once the two calendar options are ready, the district shares them with families, staff, and community members. Everyone has a chance to vote for the calendar they like best in an anonymous online poll.

3. Final Decision by the Board

After the voting, the results are shared with the Board of Trustees. The Board reviews the options and community feedback, makes any needed changes, and then approves the final calendar for the school year.

Important Details

  • Texas law mandates that students receive 75,600 instructional minutes annually. This includes time at lunch and recess.
  • The school year must include at least 187 teacher workdays, which are split between teaching days, training days, and teacher planning days.
  • All schools, elementary through high school, start and end on the same dates.
  • Two extra days are included in the calendar in case bad weather causes school closures.

PfISD’s process ensures that everyone has a voice and that the calendar supports great learning and teaching for the whole community.
