Ace's Shining Star Award
Celebrating students who lead with kindness, courage, and character.
Named after Ace, the Pflugerville ISD Police Department's K-9 officer, the Ace's Shining Star Award recognizes PfISD elementary students who go above and beyond, showing kindness, staying positive, and leading by example every day. Each month, Ace selects two students to receive the award, and just like Ace serves and supports our school community, this recognition celebrates students doing the same for their classmates, teachers, and campuses.
Winners receive a certificate presented by Ace himself during a special celebratory visit, with their photos featured on PfISD social media and in The Pflyer, the district's magazine. It's a chance to shine a spotlight on the everyday heroes walking our hallways, and to remind students that doing the right thing never goes unnoticed.
What We're Looking For:
🐾 Kind - Shows kindness to others
⭐ Positive - Demonstrates positive behavior in and out of class
🛡️ Leader - Leads by example every day

Meet Ace
Ace is a trained narcotics detection canine who joined the Pflugerville ISD Police Department in July 2026, working alongside his handler, Officer Ramon Garcia. Ace supports campus safety and helps build positive relationships between students and law enforcement throughout the district.
Ace joins the department following the retirement of PfISD's longtime K9, who served the district since 2019, continuing a K9 program built on two things: keeping campuses safe and connecting with students.
While Ace's training is focused on narcotics detection, his presence on campus also gives students the chance to interact with him in a positive way, including through the Ace's Shining Star Award.
