SY 25-26 New Teacher Induction Program

Pflugerville ISD is committed to recruiting, growing, and retaining highly effective teachers in our classrooms. Our Teacher Induction Program consists of three professional learning series for Beginning Teachers with 0-2 years of prior classroom teaching experience. These professional learning series will take place throughout the year and will provide just-in-time support and resources for teachers. 

New Teacher Academy Dates

 

  • First-Year Teacher Academy: a three-part professional learning series designed for beginning teachers with no prior teaching experience.
    • September - Topic 1 - Classroom Management & Building Relationships
    • October - Topic 2 - Lesson Internalization and Content Support
    • January - Topic 3 - The 7 Steps for a Language-Rich Classroom

 

  • Second-Year Teacher Academy: a three-part professional learning series designed for beginning teachers with one (1) year of prior teaching experience. 
    • September - Topic 1 - Habits 1-5 for a Highly-Engaged Classroom
    • October - Topic 2 - Habits 6-10 for a Highly-Engaged Classroom
    • February - Topic 3 - The 7 Steps for a Language-Rich Classroom

 

  • Third-Year Teacher Academy: a three-part professional learning series designed for beginning teachers with two (2) years of prior teaching experience.
    • September - Topic 1 - Weekly Data Meetings
    • January - Topic 2 - Learning Walks
    • February - Topic 3 - Get Better Faster: Rigor Trajectory

As part of our Teacher Induction Program, all First-Year and Second-Year Teachers will be assigned a Mentor Teacher by their Campus Principal or Administrator. Mentor Teachers are also provided to Teacher Facilitators and Resident Teachers completing certification requirements and to Visiting International Teachers in the first year with the distrct.

Mentors will also engage in professional learning series throughout the year that will provide Mentors with the skills and resources they need to provide strong support to our new-to-profession teachers throughout the academic year.

  • Mentoring 101 Academy: a monthly professional learning series designed for new Mentor Teachers. Mentoring 101 Academy modules can be completed via virtual Google Meets or via KickUp self-paced courses.
  • Advanced Mentoring Academy: designed for Mentors who have completed Mentoring 101 Academy, the Advanced Mentoring Academy is a book study on Jim Knight's Better Conversations research, divided into five (5) virtual, after-school sessions.
