Enrollment Figures for PISD
The City of Pflugerville was recently named the 23rd fastest growing suburb in the nation by Forbes magazine. This growth is mirrored by continued growth in Pflugerville ISD. Since 1996, the district has more than doubled in size, going from an enrollment of 9,700 students in 1996 to an enrollment of nearly 21,000 students to begin the 2007-08 school year.
As part of the district's long range planning, a demographer was hired to provide the district with growth projections for the next 10 years. Many factors were taken into consideration for the projections, including birth rates, planned development of both single-family homes and multi-family developments, and commercial development.
Based on the demographic projections, enrollment in Pflugerville ISD is expected to double in the next 10 years, going from nearly 21,000 students to begin the 2007-08 school year to nearly 45,000 students in 2017. The district expects to continue its trend of opening an elementary school almost every year, and opening an additional 2-3 middle schools and at least one additional high school during that time frame, to address the continued rapid growth.
