2018 CFAC
2018 CITIZENS FACILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Pflugerville ISD Citizens Facilities Advisory Committee members were selected through board member and staff nominations to ensure there was a diverse cross-section of the Pflugerville ISD community. Members include parents, non-parents, campus staff, community and business members, church leaders, grandparents and a mix of backgrounds and geographic representation.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the 2018 Citizens Facilities Advisory Committee is to provide facility, equipment and infrastructure recommendations to the Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees after analyzing a district-wide facilities assessment, enrollment projections, financial data, results of a community survey, and other data relevant in creating and maintaining learning environments that align with the district’s mission, vision and goals.
CHARGE
- Assess and prioritize the district’s current and long-term facility needs, including, but not limited to:
- District growth and capacity
- Building age, safety and condition
- Land acquisition
- Evolving educational delivery and programs
- Energy efficiency and sustainable features
- Develop and prioritize potential projects, including new construction, renovations/additions, technology, and other areas that may arise from community input
- Consider the educational needs of all students and align recommendations with the district’s mission, vision and goals
- Represent the entire school district community, values and perceptions, and seek input from other residents
- Consider the district’s current financial position and funding methods to develop a recommendation that is fiscally sound
- Make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees that addresses the district’s growth and facility needs based on the Committee’s identified priorities
2018 FACILITY ASSESSMENT
In 2013, Pflugerville ISD engaged an architectural firm, Huckabee, along with a team of consultants, to help evaluate district facilities and develop options to address them. This comprehensive facility assessment included 20 components such as site civil, building code compliance, energy systems, handicap accessibility, and life safety.
Many projects identified on the 2013 assessment were addressed by the 2014 bond; many projects have been completed by the Pflugerville ISD maintenance department, and some projects still remain a priority for the district. In the past several months, district officials have been working with Huckabee to make updates to the assessment report and those results will be shared with the Citizens Facilities Advisory Committee.
Meeting Dates, Agendas & Presentations
The Citizens Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC) will meet regularly starting in April 2018 with Committee recommendations to be delivered to the Board of Trustees on July 19, 2018. Meetings are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and they will be scheduled at various facilities across the district. Facility tours or additional meetings may be scheduled to allow committee members to see additional schools first-hand.
To remain consistent with the values of the Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees and its administration, the CFAC process will be open and transparent. All CFAC meetings will be posted and are open to the public. To allow all stakeholders to have a voice in the decision-making process, non-committee members in attendance are invited to listen, but not verbally participate. Non-members are encouraged to submit his/her question(s) and/or comments in writing on notecards that will be available at the meetings.
