• Weekly Update from our Admin Team

Posted by Valerie Burleigh on 9/18/2020

    Dear Panther Families,

Thank you for your patience as we returned to on-campus learning this week. It was wonderful to welcome students back into our building!

We have implemented several systems per district guidelines to keep our students and staff safe and are so proud of our students and how they have adapted to following these procedures.

The 2nd nine weeks of this school year is quickly approaching. ALL parents will need to select their method of learning for the second nine weeks between September 28th and 30th. We will share more information about the process closer to those dates. Please mark these dates down on your calendar.

In addition to providing Chromebooks to our students, we were able to distribute hotspots to some of our families for virtual learning. For in-person learning, please remember to have students bring their Chromebook, case, charger, headphones, mask, paper bag, and a water bottle. Students may bring a backpack to school. If you are having issues with technology, here is the link to get assistance: https://www.pfisd.net/Page/7772

Curbside meal services are available on a daily basis for our virtual learners. Pick-up is in the back of the school from 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. If you haven’t already filled out the 2020 meal application, here is the link:https://www.pfisd.net/Page/500

At this time, we also want to introduce Mr. Brian Ernest, our interim principal, helping out at Pflugerville Middle School. Mr. Ernest has several years of experience in our district, including here at Pflugerville Middle School, and we look forward to working with him.

    Sincerely,

  • In-Person Learning COVID Procedures

Posted by Valerie Burleigh on 9/13/2020

    Dear Panther Families,

Thank you for your patience as we plan for our students to return to in-person learning on campus starting Monday, September 14th. We're excited to welcome students back to our campus but also know you have many questions and concerns. We want to assure you that we are following district policies and procedures to keep our staff and students safe.

If your child was selected for in-person learning, you should have received a confirmation phone call or email. Please note that students returning to campus will need to bring their district-provided Chromebook or a personal laptop on a daily basis, in addition to their case, charger, headphones, mask, paper bag for mask (not a ziploc bag), water bottle (to fill up during the day), and school supplies like pencil and paper.

The district will continue to provide curbside meal service for virtual learners. Pick-up times will be 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. daily. Lunch meals are charged by student status (free, reduced or paid), but all PfISD campuses offer free breakfast, regardless of student status.

Click here for the campus-wide procedures that we will implement starting tomorrow, including a new bell schedule that will be followed by both virtual and in-person learners.

We will continue to evaluate the needs of our campus moving forward and, again, thank you for your patience.

    Sincerely,

The Administrative Team of Pflugerville Middle School

    Greetings Panther Families,
Earlier this week, I hosted a zoom session and gave our families an overview of our plan to return to on-campus learning. Besides giving valuable feedback, our community members shared their questions and concerns as we move forward. Student and staff safety is our top priority and we are working hard to put all protective measures into place.

  • Instruccion Virtual y Participacion Comunitaria

Posted by Valerie Burleigh on 8/26/2020 2:10:00 PM

    Saludos familias Panther,

  • Virtual Instruction and Community Involvement

Posted by Valerie Burleigh on 8/25/2020 7:30:00 PM

    Greetings Panther Families,

It’s hard to believe we are now starting our second full week of virtual learning. While the challenges have been consistent each day, we are all pushing through and doing our best to find solutions to better serve all of you in the community, our students and staff members. I have been able to see some amazing teaching by our staff and tremendous learning by students as well! Those things obviously go hand-in-hand and we truly cannot wait until we can finally be face-to-face with our scholars and your students!

STAR 360 Assessments: Reading and Math

Each school year, students are given a computer-based assessment of their reading and math skills. This is a universal screener and will not be used as a grade in Skyward. The data taken from this assessment is important and does help teachers know how to better support students throughout the year in preparation for the STAAR test and the need for intervention or acceleration. This of course is only one data point used in the overall instructional assessment of our students. The link below will give you some tips on how to monitor a student at home as our students take this assessment. Teachers will be reaching out during math and reading instruction.

This committee is set to meet next Monday, August 31st from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Please email me if you would like to attend and I will include you in our zoom invite! (Philip.clayton@pfisd.net) Families will get our finalized draft and protocols via writing and video on Wednesday, September 2nd at the very latest.

  • Weekly Message from Mr. Clayton

Posted by Valerie Burleigh on 8/17/2020

    Greetings Panther Pfamilies,

It has been wonderful getting to know many of you as we handed out close to 750 laptops last week. We will continue to distribute laptops from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. this week, so please come to campus to get your child’s device. You may enter the through the front of the building now as we have condensed our process with fewer devices and families picking up technology. Please email me at Philip.clayton@pfisd.net if you are in need of a wireless hotspot for your child.  I am compiling a list of PfMS families in need of wireless service.

Our alternating asynchronous and synchronous schedule starts this week and was linked, shared, and posted on the website with you last week. I will link it again in this communication below. The elective listed in that schedule below in bold (ex. Elective 1,2,3) are the days identified as synchronous (2-way) for that specific elective. All other electives that day will be asynchronous (1-way communication from the teacher). Our counselors have been working hard to ensure each student is in the correct class. We have two amazing new counselors to the district, Charnell Evans and Gloria Cruz Gauna. They are joining the fabulous Maria Baughman, who is starting her 5th year at PfMS as a counselor. Please continue to reach out to our counselors, and me as well (Philip.Clayton@pfisd.net), with any questions or problems that you need assistance with.

Below is a picture and link to the daily and weekly schedule, followed by Virtual Learning Expectations, district meal information, including free and reduced lunch applications, and important information about immunizations.

    Have a Great Panther Monday!
