Dr. Douglas Killian officially became Pflugerville ISD’s superintendent on July 1, 2017. He brought more than 13 years of superintendent experience to PfISD, serving the last seven years with neighboring Hutto ISD. He has 18 years of superintendent experience.
He believes strongly in servant leadership and has dedicated time to the Rotary Club, Lions Club, education foundations, and several other organizations and boards.
Dr. Killian was named the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Superintendent of the Year. In 2015, he was Region 13’s Superintendent of the Year.
He began his educational career at United ISD serving as a 1st-grade teacher. He has held various administrative positions including serving as superintendent in Poteet and Huffman ISDs, as well as administrative roles in Educational Service Center (ESC) 3 and 20.
Dr. Killian received his doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&M University, his master's degree in educational administration from Texas A&M International University, and his bachelor's degree in political science and history from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University).
He is married to Lorie Killian, a Registered Nurse, and the Killians have three boys.
