I am so excited to be joining the Leopard Pfamily here at Parmer Lane. My name is Jamie Herman and I will be going by Coach Herman in class. I'm originally from California where I was an elementary classroom teacher for 9 years. While teaching in California, I got my Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration, so when I moved to Texas I got my credential in Physical Education. This is the start of my fifth year teaching Physical Education and I couldn't be happier! When I was a middle school student I literally played every sport they offered, but in high school I landed on playing field hockey, soccer, and softball. While teaching Physical Education I have found a real love for teaching volleyball. Who knew you could do so many amazing things with balloons, beachballs, and volleyballs. Our big event will be Field Day, in the Spring, so please look out for upcoming emails about this fun school wide event! Volunteers are very welcomed and encouraged for this event!
Elementary physical education (PE) classes offer young students the opportunity to engage in various physical activities and develop their overall physical fitness. These classes provide a foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle by introducing students to different sports, games, and exercises. Through fun and interactive lessons, students learn fundamental movement skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, and catching, while also developing coordination, balance, and spatial awareness. PE classes promote the importance of regular exercise, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play, instilling valuable values and habits that contribute to their physical and mental well-being.
