Pflugerville Independent School District (PfISD) is excited to accept a $20,000 donation from the Assistance League of Austin toward student lunch debt. The donation is in celebration of the organization’s 50th Anniversary and is part of the nonprofit’s ongoing mission to support children and their families in ways that transform lives and strengthen communities.

"We believe that no child should have to worry about whether they can afford a meal at school," said Linda Noy, President of the Assistance League of Austin. "Our hope is that this gift will ease the stress for families and allow Pflugerville ISD to focus on providing the best possible educational experience for all students."

The Assistance League of Austin has been a cornerstone of community support for five decades, focusing on various initiatives that ensure children are clothed, fed, ready to learn, and have the necessary resources for academic success. By addressing school lunch debt, ALA aims to relieve financial burdens on families while allowing the district to allocate funds to other critical areas that support students' academic achievements.

“As a district, we try to fill every need of our students, and that goes far beyond just their education needs and includes items such as food, clothing, and even assisting with shelter,” PfISD Superintendent Dr. Quintin Shepherd said. “It is only through strong partnerships, such as this one with the Assistance League of Austin, that we can meet the rising needs of our students and their families. We encourage any organization that wants to assist students to reach out to us, and we will be happy to be the bridge to help our students and their families.”

This donation is just one of the many ways the Assistance League of Austin is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The organization remains committed to its mission of helping children and families across the Austin area, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
