Board of Trustees Approves 2026–27 Academic Calendar

Board of Trustees Approves 2026–27 Academic Calendar

At its December 11 meeting, the Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees approved the academic calendar for the 2026–27 school year following a robust community feedback process that drew a record 4,382 survey responses.

The approved calendar features a first day of school on August 12 and a last day of school on May 27. New for the 2026–27 school year is an extended fall break from October 12–16, providing students and staff with an additional longer pause during the first semester. The calendar also does not include early release days, which have been common in several recent PfISD calendars.

Community-Guided Process

Each year, PfISD develops its school calendar through a collaborative process designed to balance the needs of students, staff, and the community while meeting state requirements. The work begins with the District Academic Advisory Council (DAAC), a volunteer committee that drafts multiple calendar options and ultimately recommends two for consideration.

Those options are then shared with families, staff, and community members through an anonymous online survey, allowing stakeholders to provide direct input. This year’s survey engagement set a district record, underscoring strong community interest in the calendar decision.

Survey results and feedback were presented to the Board of Trustees, who reviewed the information before approving the final calendar.

Designed to Support Learning

PfISD calendars are built to support student success and staff needs while aligning with state law and district guidelines. Texas law requires 75,600 instructional minutes for students and at least 187 teacher workdays, which include instructional days, professional learning, and planning time. All PfISD schools follow the same start and end dates, and the calendar includes two weather make-up days in case of school closures.

The approved 2026–27 calendar reflects that careful balance, ensuring our students and staff are supported while honoring the voices of our community.

The approved calendar is available at www.PfISD.net/calendar. A final printable version will be available in January.
