Building Futures: PfISD Breaks Ground on Next-Gen CTE Center

A crisp autumn morning set the stage as Pflugerville Independent School District officially broke ground on its ambitious new Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center—a landmark

facility designed to redefine how students prepare for college, careers, and life beyond graduation. The fully-equipped, state-of-the-art building is funded by the 2022 Bond and slated to open in Fall 2027 under Proposition G, authorizing $76 million for design and construction.

District leadership, board members, industry partners and students came together for the ceremony, standing on the future site located in southeast Pflugerville.

“Generations of students will walk through its halls, discovering passions and building futures,” said PfISD Superintendent Dr. Quintin Shepherd. “Some in classrooms, some in labs, some in workshops, but all with the same dignity and opportunity.”

Built to bridge classroom learning and high-demand careers, the center will house flexible classrooms,

meeting spaces for industry and community partners, a Career & College Resource Center, and an Industry Certification Testing Lab for credentials like Automotive Service Excellence and Food Manager.

“This is a place where opportunity will live.” says Board President Chevonne Lorigo-Johst. “Where students will discover their passions. Where futures will take shape.”

Daniel Garcia, named the founding principal of the new CTE Center, spoke about the profound impact the building will have. “This new CTE Center will be a place where students feel seen,” he shared. “Where their dreams are not measured against anyone else’s path, but celebrated because they are their own.”

The new CTE Center will be situated on approximately 20 acres of donated land in southeast Pflugerville, near Wells Branch Parkway and Killingsworth Lane. The $76 million facility will feature flexible classrooms and meeting rooms for industry partners and community training, as well as a Career and College Resource Center to support college applications, financial aid planning, and career exploration.

As shovels hit the ground, the excitement was palpable. More than a new building, the CTE Center represents PfISD’s belief that every student deserves access to skills, opportunities, and pathways that lead to meaningful futures.
