PfISD Discontinues Use of Flock Safety Cameras

Pflugerville ISD is suspending the use of the Flock Safety camera system on district property, effective immediately.

Since the hiring of Police Chief Tyler Smith in December, our police department has been reviewing our Flock Camera systems and evaluating whether continued use is appropriate for our district. Following the City Council's lead and in response to our community's clear direction on this issue, we have decided to halt use of the cameras immediately. All Flock Safety cameras on district property have been removed as of this morning.

PfISD has operated Flock Safety cameras at our high schools and the Pfield athletic complex to support campus safety efforts, including providing real-time alerts to law enforcement when a stolen vehicle or a vehicle on a watch list is detected on district property.

We want to be clear about how this system has been used. The Flock Safety system is strictly limited to capturing license plate and vehicle information to support the safety of our students, staff, and families on our campuses.
