February 6, 2026 Pflugerville Independent School District has named Ashley Chohlis as its new Chief of Staff, bringing more than 30 years of experience in public education and a proven record of strategic, compassionate leadership to the district’s executive team.

Chohlis most recently served as Superintendent of Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, where she led districtwide operations, strategic planning, and community engagement during one of the most challenging periods in the district’s history. In that role, she was instrumental in guiding recovery efforts following tragedy and forging partnerships to provide wraparound services for students, staff, and families, including food distribution, healthcare access, counseling services, and safety enhancements.

“Ashley Chohlis brings exceptional leadership experience, deep operational knowledge, and a strong commitment to people and purpose,” said Superintendent Dr. Quintin Shepherd. “Her collaborative leadership style and focus on student-centered outcomes will be a tremendous asset as we continue advancing Pflugerville ISD’s strategic priorities.”

A native of South Texas, Chohlis is a champion for public education who emphasizes dignity for all, student achievement, and strong community partnerships. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in collaboration, trust-building, and a commitment to continuous improvement, qualities that align closely with the responsibilities of the Chief of Staff role in Pflugerville ISD.

“Strong leadership empowers educators, supports families, and transforms the student experience,” said Chohlis. “I am honored to join Pflugerville ISD and look forward to supporting the district’s strategic goals while working alongside staff, families, and community partners to advance student success.”

Chohlis began her career in education as a paraprofessional and school bus driver before becoming a special education teacher and coach in East Central ISD. She spent more than 20 years there as an administrator at every level, gaining comprehensive experience in instructional leadership, operations, and district management. Her career journey reflects a deep understanding of public education from the ground up.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Relationships from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University–Kingsville, and superintendent certification from The University of Texas at Tyler.

Chohlis’s leadership has been shaped by a commitment to trauma-informed practices, influenced in part by her family’s experience following the 2017 Sutherland Springs shooting. Her work has earned statewide and national recognition, including being named a 2025 graduate of the Holdsworth Center Superintendent Leadership Program, a Holdsworth Champion of Hope for building resilience, and a CBS Everyday Hero.

As Chief of Staff, Chohlis will support the superintendent and central office leadership in advancing districtwide priorities, strengthening internal operations, and fostering collaboration across departments to ensure organizational effectiveness and student-centered outcomes.
