PfISD Supports for Families Impacted by the Federal Government Shutdown, SNAP benefits

Students play with parachute and pompoms

We understand that the ongoing federal government shutdown may be creating financial stress and uncertainty for many of our families, particularly those who receive SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, have not received work checks or been furloughed during the federal shutdown, or are part of our military-connected community.

Districtwide Food Drive to Support Our Community

Earlier this month, we launched our 19th Annual PfISD Food Services/Aramark Food Drive, benefitting local food banks and programs that serve our students, families, and communities. Over the past eighteen years, this initiative has collected nearly 40,000 pounds of food thanks to your generosity.

Collection boxes and signage are available at every campus, and we will be collecting dry and canned goods through December 1, 2025.

Our Food Services team has once again set up and will manage the collection, storage, and distribution of donations in collaboration with community partners. This long-standing system has proven efficient and reliable, especially as the need for food support may increase with potential SNAP benefit interruptions.

To expand awareness, we encourage everyone to share donation opportunities and look for collection boxes at upcoming football games and other district events.

Campus Food and Clothing Drives

Many campuses are also organizing their own food and clothing drives during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons to provide donations to local community organizations.

If your family is able, we encourage you to consider contributing to these efforts. Your donations help our local non-profit organizations continue supporting our neighbors in need.

At Pflugerville ISD, we remain deeply committed to supporting our students and families in every way possible. If you need help, please reach out. Together, we can ensure that every PfISD family feels seen, supported, and cared for—no matter the circumstance.
