Industry Leadership Council

 

The PfISD Industry Leadership Council is made up of experts in the fields of industry, post-secondary education and community engagement. The council provides input that will help the Career and Technical Education team develop and maintain high-quality CTE programs that prepare students for in-demand occupations in our region. Would you like to partner with the CTE Program and need some ideas, review our Building Successful Partnerships-Partner Resource. 

The PfISD CTE HQ Program Framework was adopted in July 2019 following a months-long collaborative process that engaged CTE teachers, campus administrators and counselors, district administrators, business/industry partners, postsecondary education partners, parents and students. This framework is based on the Association of Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE) “Quality CTE Program of Study Framework”, 2018 version. There are 12 elements and 92 criteria, based on best practices and multiple years of research by the national CTE association. This framework guides the development, support and improvement of CTE programs in the District; all CTE program decisions are made in alignment to the framework.

The goal of the council is to connect industry, postsecondary, and community leaders with PfISD CTE teachers and students and solicit input on employer needs, skills gaps, postsecondary preparation gaps, and emerging industry trends.

Details about Real World Career Connections (an event hosted each spring)

Real World is designed to help Pflugerville ISD high school students learn more about careers, local businesses and what is required to be successful in their chosen field. During the connection event students are afforded the opportunity to interact with multiple businesses in featured career fields, organized by interest, and program of study.  Due to the unprecedented circumstances, the event will be virtual this year. The Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce partners with CTE to host the event annually. Interested business/industry partners will be able to register through the Chamber link, participants do not need to be Chamber members.
