PfISD High School Course Selection and Personal Graduation Plans:

Students enrolled in grades 8-11 will select courses and update their four-year plans in January and February. Families are encouraged to use the PfISD Course Guide and Endorsement Guide to learn more about courses offered in PFISD. Students in grades 9-11 will be given guidance by their campus counselor on how to update their four-year/career plan this spring.

Campus Visits

January 23, 2025 - HS Invasion Day and Evening Course Fair:
Eighth-grade students will attend High School Invasion Day on Thursday, January 25 to learn more about course offerings and pathways. The day will provide information to help them complete their four-year plan with the eighth-grade counselor prior to meeting with high school counselors in February. Parents and students are encouraged to attend the HS course fair at their zoned high school campus on the evening of January 23. Both events will offer guidance to students on how to create a draft of the four-year/personal graduation plan in Schoolinks. Students will be provided with a course choice sheet by the campus they will attend next year. Eighth-grade students should complete both their 2025-2026 choice sheet and a draft of their four-year/career plan. All choices should be entered on the Schoolinks platform prior to attending the appointment with counselors in February. All students will receive a reminder from Schoolinks prior to the appointment with their appointment date, time and location. Parents are encouraged to attend this appointment with their child if possible. All parents should review and approve the student's four-year/personal graduation plan. Due to the volume of appointments, we are not able to reschedule appointments. Contact your middle school counselor if you have questions about the course selection process. Students will be given instructions by their campus counselors on how to enter their course selections in Schoolinks and parents will review and approve selections in Schoolinks. Note: students should plan their course choices on the electronic/paper choice sheet in order to enter the correct choices in Schoolinks.

Endorsements

House Bill 5 (HB 5), passed by the Texas Legislature, made substantial changes to the state's graduation requirements: Foundation High School Program: Foundation (22 credits); the Foundation + Endorsement (26 credits); and the Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan (26 credits).  The Foundation + Endorsement allows students to earn an Endorsement in a specific area of study by completing four additional credits.  In Pflugerville ISD, the default graduation plan is the Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan (26 credits) where students will earn an Endorsement and complete Algebra 2.

Starting in the spring of 2014, all 8th graders are required to choose one of five endorsements as outlined in the new graduation plan. The five endorsement areas are:
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM);
  • Business and Industry;
  • Public Service;
  • Arts and Humanities;
  • and Multidisciplinary Studies.
The earned endorsement is reflected on the student's official transcript at the completion of their high school career.

PfISD Middle School Course Selection

Students enrolled in grades 5-7 will be selecting courses for the next school year with their middle school counselor in January and February. The Middle School Course Guide and the district middle school choice sheets should be used by staff and families to plan courses for the upcoming school year. All students will be given a choice sheet as a Google Classroom Assignment from their campus counselor. Students will complete the choice sheet in Google and submit it by the due date established by the campus. The timeline for this process will be communicated by the campus.
