What is Destination Imagination?

Destination Imagination, Inc. is an extraordinary non-profit organization that provides educational programs for students to learn and experience…

 creativity,

      teamwork,

         problemsolving.

In Destination Imagination, student teams in grades K-12 solve open-ended Challenges and present their solutions at Tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together, and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills—they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving!

In PfISD, Destination Imagination is open to all students in grades K-12.  The team of four to seven members forms at the beginning of the school year and is supervised by a Team Manager.  Together the team members work for several months to develop their unique solution to a central challenge, building life-long skills and enduring friendships along the way.

Parents!

This is an enrichment program that incorporates science, technology, engineering, math, (STEM) and the arts, and prepares your child for the future. Kids from all backgrounds and abilities learn to work together and appreciate each other, their self-confidence grows, and they learn to be leaders and communicators. These are the job skills needed for your child to be successful in the 21st century!

Teachers!

The Destination Imagination program Challenges are designed by educators, for educators, to complement the curriculum. Teachers report better attention and participation from students engaged in Destination Imagination (DI).

Interested?

The team of students is solely responsible for solving the challenges in Destination Imagination, but DI teams require adult volunteers to manage the team, to teach skills needed for the challenge, and to act as appraisers at the Tournament. If you or your student is interested in finding out how to become involved in DI, please ask your school administrator for the name of the DI Campus Contact to get started!
