School Social Workers: Making A Difference!Mission:
A School Social Worker is a licensed mental health professional who supports students' emotional, social, and academic well-being within the school environment. They serve as a bridge between school, home and the community. The underlying goal of school social work is to strengthen students’ academic progress by removing barriers to learning including meeting their basic, physical, and emotional needs.
Services provided:
- Provides short-term individual and support group counseling services
- Provides prevention and crisis intervention services
- Encourages supportive peer relationships
- Provides guidance to students to make healthy choices
- Provides advocacy services for students and families
- Coordinate students and families to appropriate community agencies
- Encourages Parental Involvement
- Collaborates with campus-based and district support service professionals
- Provides prevention education, training, and consultation services to students and staff
