Mental Health Awareness
Ask, Listen, Talk, Repeat
Austin Public Health and Integral Care are launching a public awareness campaign called “Ask, Listen, Talk, Repeat” to shed light on the mental health crisis which is affecting many children in Austin and Travis County. This campaign encourages parents to communicate with their children which can provide relief to children who are struggling.
Austin-Travis County has seen trends that indicate that children are suffering from mental health problems more than before. There could be several factors which contribute to more feelings of sadness, depression and hopelessness in children. “In the last few years, our children’s mental health has been besieged by several factors from losing time with friends due to the pandemic to the rise in usage of social media,” said Dr. Desmar Walkes, Austin-Travis County health authority.
