Intra-District Transfer (IDT) Requests

To begin the transfer process, parents or guardians must:

1. Complete a transfer application.
   To apply for a transfer, please access the application via the Google Chrome browser using either a desktop or laptop PC. You may encounter a submission error if an alternate browser is used or if you access the application via a phone, tablet, or other handheld device.
2. Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed to determine eligibility.

The district will consider several factors when reviewing a transfer request, such as the student's academic performance, behavior, and attendance records. The availability of space in the requested school and program will also be considered. The district will make every effort to accommodate transfer requests but cannot guarantee placement in the requested school or program.

It's important to note that transportation is the responsibility of the parent or guardian when a student transfers to a school outside their designated attendance zone. However, Pflugerville ISD does provide transportation to specific specialized programs.

1. Is the district required to provide a student transfer process that allows students to attend a campus other than the one to which they are zoned?
   No, but the district has chosen to offer a student transfer process.

Applying for Transfer Requests – IDT 

1. How do I initiate a transfer request for my child? 
   Please visit the Intra District Transfer Application to apply. 
    
2. How do I initiate a new programmatic transfer for my child? 
   You can apply for a Programmatic (CTE) transfer by using the regular transfer application. Transfers are not required for Fire & EMT Academy or the Healthcare Therapeutics EMT Program. Programmatic transfers will only be accepted to open campuses. 
    
3. If my child is on a transfer now do I need to reapply? 
   In-District students, are required to re-apply when they complete 5th grade and 8th grade if they choose to transition to the schools that feed into the middle and high schools of the school they currently attend. Out of District Students much apply annually.
    
4. How long must I reside in the district before applying for a transfer? 
   Students new to Pflugerville ISD must attend their home campus for at least one grading period before requesting a transfer, unless a District Transfer Waiver is signed. Employees may apply to a closed campus if they are employed at that campus or within the feeder pattern. 
    
5. What is the process the district uses to determine whether a campus is open to accept transfers? 
   The District uses the projected enrollment for each campus which may not exceed its capacity.
    
6. Will my child receive transportation services if my IDT Application is approved? 
   No. Transportation will not be provided. 
    
7. May I submit more than one application per school year? 
   No, only one application per child per school year will be accepted for consideration. However, if your application is denied due to space, you will be given the opportunity to request another campus. 
    
8. May I request a specific campus on the IDT? 
   Yes. However, approval will only be given if the student meets the transfer requirements and there is space available. 
    
9. May I go to a campus on my own and request/arrange for an intra-district transfer for my child? 
   We ask that you not go to a campus as the on-line application process was developed to streamline the process. If you do not have access to the internet or a computer at home, please visit the PfISD Administration Building, at 1401 W. Pecan, for assistance. 
    
10. I have withdrawn my child from his/her zoned campus. I would like to re-enroll him/her in another PfISD school using an IDT application and request a different campus. Will my IDT application be approved to allow him/her to attend a different PfISD school? 
    No. If you still reside in the PfISD boundaries, you must first re-enroll your student in his/her zoned campus and then apply for a transfer using an IDT application. 
     
11. If my child is moving up to middle or high school, but I want him/her to stay in the same feeder pattern as the elementary school he/she just completed rather than attend the zoned campus, do I need to complete an IDT Application? 
    Yes. Students at a transition year, 5th or 8th grades, must complete a new IDT application. Please note that submitting a new application does not guarantee approval and the campus requested must be an open campus. 
     
12. My family will be moving into a new subdivision over the summer but my student wants to attend the middle school in the feeder pattern of the former elementary school in order to remain with friends. Will my student be granted a transfer? 
    Not necessarily. A new IDT application must be submitted, and the desired campus must be open to transfers. There is no guarantee of approval. 
     
13. May I, as a Pflugerville ISD employee, submit an IDT application for my child to attend a campus that is closer to the campus where I work? 
    Yes. You may apply for a transfer to an open campus closer to the campus where you work. 
     
14. As an Aramark employee or someone who holds a temporary or part-time position within PfISD (such as a substitute teacher), may I submit an application as an employee for my child to transfer? 
    Yes. All employees (Full-Time, Part-Time, Food Service and Guest Educators), regardless of position type are able to submit an application for an IDT. 
     
15. How will I know when my application has been received or the status of my application? 
    Upon submission, you will receive a message that the application was successfully submitted (If you do not receive a message, the application was not received).The approval or denial decision will be sent, via email, to the parent/guardian who submitted the IDT request. You should expect to receive the decision email about two weeks after the date the transfer window closes. 
     
16. Will my child be permitted to participate in sports if he/she is approved for an IDT to another high school? 
    If your child is approved to attend another school as the result of your IDT application, he/she may not participate in varsity level athletics for one calendar year; however, participation in JV, sophomore, or freshman level athletics is permitted. 
     
17. Is there a chance that one of my children could be approved for a transfer to the campus I requested and the other one be denied for the same campus? 
    Yes. This could happen for a number of reasons. Some denial reasons include: 
    1. The information provided on the application form was erroneous.
    2. The requested campus is closed. 
    3. Factors including space and staff availability, discipline history and attendance records. 
        
18. When will I know if my IDT Application has been approved or denied? 
    You should expect to receive an email from the campus principal informing you of the approval or denial of your student’s transfer about two weeks after the date the transfer window closes. 
     
19. What happens if a student fails to comply with transfer requirements? 
    If the student fails to comply with the transfer requirements, the revocation process will be initiated. Revoked transfers are effective at the conclusion of an affirmative finding that the student has failed to comply with their District Transfer Agreement (DTA).If a transfer is revoked, the student is ineligible to apply for a transfer for one year. 

2010-11 Cohort 

All students who were transfer students in the 2010-2011 school year (10-11 Cohort) and maintained their transfer status will be allowed to remain in the feeder pattern they transferred into through their graduation. Siblings of these transfer students will be permitted to attend the same campuses as their brother or sister. The 10-11 Cohort will not need to reapply yearly. Siblings will not be required to re-apply after their initial application. 

If students in the 10-11 Cohort declare a preference to return to the feeder pattern of the home-zoned school they will no longer be considered part of the 10-11 Cohort. This, however, will not impact the status of siblings.

PfISD Policies and Procedures are used as the basis for approving all Intra-District Transfer (IDT) Applications.

Open Campus Criteria 
A student may transfer to an Open Campus (a campus where transfers will be accepted). A campus is determined to be open if the projected enrollment is less than 95% of the capacity of the campus. Other criteria that may be used on campuses that are near 95% and in high growth areas include:

• In grades K-4 transfer requests will be accepted until a grade level has reached a 19:1 student to teacher ratio of projected enrollment.
• In grade 5 transfer requests will be accepted until a grade level has reached a 22:1 student to teacher ratio of projected enrollment.
• In grades 6-12 transfer requests will be accepted up to 2% of projected grade level enrollment.

2. The requested campus is closed.
3. Student transfer decisions will be based on factors considered as addressed through our standard definitions presented in FDA or FDB regulations. FDA and FDB regulations address all factors that school administrators will consider when making decisions to accept or deny transfers. These factors include space and staff availability, discipline history and attendance records. 
4. Transfers may be revoked or denied as defined in FDA and FDB regulations. 
5. In cases where a campus exceeds its projected enrollment, it is possible some transfers will need to be revoked. In these cases the last students approved will be the first students to be moved or returned to their home campus.
6. The student's transfer has been revoked during the previous school year. These revocations are effective for one calendar year from date of revocation. Exceptions: The campus may reconsider a student whose revocation was a direct result of building capacity concerns. 

Not every program of study, or CTE course, is offered at all high school campuses, but all programs are open to all PfISD students. Below is a list of CTE programs available for transfer.

Students interested in pursuing one of the following programs of study may apply for an Intra-District transfer (IDT) through the PfISD Student Transfer application process. District transportation is currently provided for students transferring to P-TECH academies only.

• Animal Science (HHS, PHS, WHS)
• Automotive Career Academy (PHS)
• Biomedical Science (WHS)
• Construction Technology (CHS, HHS, PHS)
• Culinary Arts (CHS)
• Animation and Multimedia Arts (CHS, HHS, PHS)
• Marketing and Sales (HHS, PHS)
• Plant Science (HHS, PHS)
• P-TECH Computer and Information Technology (CIT) Academy (CHS)*
• P-TECH Pfuture Teacher Academy (WHS)*
• Transportation is provided for these programs.

Two programs DO NOT require a transfer:

• The Fire & EMT Academy (HHS) - District transportation to Hendrickson HS from the home campus is available if needed. Students report to Hendrickson HS for the firefighter course during the 11th and 12th-grade years and complete all other courses at their home campus.
• Healthcare Therapeutics EMS (HHS) - District transportation to Hendrickson HS from the home campus is available if needed. Students report to Hendrickson HS for the Practicum in Health Science-EMT course during 12th grade and complete all other courses at their home campus.
