Mr. David Aguirre ~ SecretaryDavid Aguirre was elected to the Pflugerville Board of Trustees in 2021.In 1984, David and his wife Janie moved to Pflugerville with their three children, who attended PfISD from elementary through high school. Now adults, the Aguirre children credit their successful careers to the solid foundation provided by their parents and PfISD.
David is committed to the positive development of the community’s youth. He coached youth sports, was an assistant Cub Scout Leader, served on the Campus Advisory Council (CAC), Connally Band Booster, Connally Drill Team supporter, Hendrickson Athletic Booster, HHS Senior Celebration Committee, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisory Committee, Real World Job Shadowing program, Sunday School teacher, and church youth group mentor.
David dedicated 42 years to the retail industry. He retired after 36 years of service at Target, where he was an award-winning store director, served as Business College Advisor in the Target Executive Training program, and mentored staff and colleagues. As store director, he oversaw the opening of three Target stores in Central Texas, including Pflugerville’s Stone Hill Target in 2009.
David has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Central Texas Food Bank, The Storehouse Food Pantry and Pflugerville Animal Shelter, and he organized charity golf tournaments for Easter Seals and other non-profit organizations. He and Janie are still active members of their local church.David’s vision as he serves on the Board of Trustees is to assist in providing all students with a quality education and strive for academic excellence. He wishes for students to have an environment where they feel safe coming to school so they can be empowered to learn and reach the goals for their success and help prepare them for their careers or college. “They’re our future generation, let’s help them be successful so they can become our future leaders and can give back to their community.”
