Free & Reduced Meals Information and Application

  • My School Apps

The free meals program provided by the USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture for all PfISD students during the pandemic will end with the 2021-22 school year. Starting with the 2022-23 school year, students must complete the necessary form to receive free or reduced meals.

PfISD is encouraging families who feel they may qualify for the free/reduced meal program to complete the forms this year as it will give their students coverage for the first 30 days of next school year. Then, they must complete an application at the beginning of next school year to receive benefits all year long.

Please take note: the free meals that have been available to all students, regardless of their application status, are ending. Students who have previously been part of the free/reduced meal plan or newer students who enrolled in PfISD during the 2021-22 school year who may be eligible for the traditional program need to apply to continue receiving free or reduced meals at school next school year.

Children need healthy and nutritious meals to learn and grow. Pflugerville ISD offers healthy meals every school day. The Free and Reduced Lunch Program provides students from eligible families with a free or reduced lunch at school.

Your children may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals if:

    • Your family receives government food stamps
    • Your family receives Aid for Needy Families with Children (ANFC)
    • Your family income is at, or less than, the levels listed below.

The Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004 has established that once a household is approved for free and reduced-price benefits, the household will remain eligible for those benefits for the remainder of the school year plus a maximum of 30 operating days after the first operating day in the following school year. This means the household is no longer required to report changes in circumstances, such as an increase in income, a decrease in household size, or when the household is no longer certified as eligible for food stamps or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

However, students who have been accepted to the program in the past must reapply each school year to keep receiving the benefits after the first 30 days of a new school year.

Pflugerville ISD utilizes online free and reduced applications exclusively in order to reduce processing and notification times while reducing our carbon footprint.
