Texas Rising Star

Oct. 30, 2020

Twenty Pflugerville ISD Extended Day Program sites have met select criteria to be named Texas Rising Star childcare providers by the Texas Workforce Commission.
The Texas Rising Star program represents a commitment by Texas Workforce Commission and participating childcare providers to provide high quality childcare to all, including at-risk children in the TWC subsidized childcare program. Providers can obtain three levels of certification: Two-Star, Three-Star and Four-Star.
Each PfISD EDP elementary campus site met the criteria, which site personnel undertook on a voluntary basis and which subjected them to an initial certification assessment and will include annual, unannounced monitoring visits. A recertification assessment will take place no more than three years after the initial site assessment.
Participating providers initially are given Two-Star designations, with the chance to increase their scores through subsequent on-site assessments.
Certification criteria include director and staff qualifications, child-to-caregiver interaction, curriculum, nutrition and indoor/outdoor activity.
The PfISD Extended Day Program is a tuition-based, licensed childcare operation that provides service to each elementary campus within the district. This campus-based program will allow for a seamless transition from the classroom to after-school care for students in grades PK-5.
The intent of the Extended Day Program is to not only provide a safe environment but also an atmosphere in which the school experience of the student is enhanced. The Extended Day Program is owned and operated by the school district and employees of the program work for Pflugerville ISD.
