PfISD offers free breakfast for all students, free lunch at 7 qualifying campuses

PfISD is happy to announce that the district will continue to provide free breakfast to all students at all campuses and that seven PfISD campuses have met the Federal and State qualifications to provide free lunch to its students.

Additionally, district officials urge all families to complete the necessary applications and forms to ensure students have access to free and reduced-price meals for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Campuses

Seven campuses within PfISD will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). The participating schools are:

  • Westview Middle School
  • Dessau Middle School
  • River Oaks Elementary School
  • Northwest Elementary School
  • Ruth Barron Elementary School
  • Dessau Elementary School
  • W. Delco Elementary School

Students at these campuses do not need to submit the free and reduced lunch application. However, families must complete and submit a socio-economic form to ensure the school district can maintain accurate records and continue receiving appropriate funding. The form is available through the PfISD Food Services website.

Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications

For students attending other campuses in PfISD, it is essential to complete the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Application annually. This application determines eligibility for free or reduced-price meals based on federal income guidelines. PfISD has begun distributing letters to households detailing the eligibility criteria and application process. The applications are available online at www.myschoolapps.com/Application, and printed forms can be obtained from the PfISD Food Service Office at 1101 Picadilly Dr., Pflugerville, TX 78660. The forms are provided in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Breakfast is free for all students in PfISD, regardless of their socio-economic status. However, to receive free or reduced lunch benefits, families must submit the required application if their children attend campuses that are not part of the CEP program.

Importance of Completing Applications

Submitting these forms is crucial for several reasons:

  • Ensuring Nutritional Needs: Access to nutritious meals is vital for students' health and academic performance.
  • Maintaining Funding: Accurate completion of socio-economic forms and free/reduced lunch applications ensures the district receives necessary funding to support its meal programs and other services.
  • Reducing Burden: The CEP reduces paperwork and administrative burdens for families and school staff while ensuring no child goes hungry.

Additional Information

Families can submit applications at any time during the school year if their financial situation changes, such as job loss or changes in household size. PfISD will review applications promptly to determine eligibility. For assistance, families can contact Nancy Murray, Free & Reduced Specialist, at the PfISD Food Services Office, or Evonny Ortiz for queries about automatic eligibility or benefits declination.

PfISD is committed to ensuring all students have access to the meals they need to succeed academically and stay healthy. Completing the necessary forms and applications is a crucial step in this process.
