Voters approve PfISD ACE, VATRE & Bond Propositions
November 9, 2022 - Voters in Pflugerville ISD approved the ACE, VATRE, and bond propositions C, D, E, G and H on the November 8 ballot. With preliminary, unofficial results available from Travis County, approximately 61.74 percent of voters approved the ACE (Proposition A), 51.84 percent of voters approved the VATRE (Proposition B), 59.84 percent of voters approved bond proposition C, 59.92 percent of voters approved proposition D, 56.66 percent of voters approved bond proposition E, 57.01 percent of voters approved bond proposition G, and 52.20 percent of voters approved bond proposition H.
“I’d like to thank our community for their support, and all the voters who carved out time to go to the polls,” says Superintendent Dr. Doug Killian. “The passage of these propositions shows that our community prioritizes education, kids, and teachers.”
With passage of the ACE (Proposition A) the district will retain its current boundaries, and is approved to purchase attendance credit from the state to pay the mandatory recapture payments.
The passage of the VATRE (Proposition B), allows the district to increase the M&O tax rate by two cents after reducing the I&S tax rate by 10 cents, resulting in an additional $6.9 Million in operating budget funds that can be used for staffing, supplies, and routine maintenance for the district, and the setting the lowest tax rate in 30 years for PfISD residents.
With the passage of bond propositions C, D, E, G and H, the district now has authorization for $367,204,000 to be used for construction and renovations to new and existing facilities, transportation, technology, and more.
“The bond program was the result of thorough and thoughtful planning by our Board of Trustees and the District’s Citizens Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC), and I am so grateful for their time and dedication to our students,” Dr. Killian said.
- Proposition C gives the district authorization to sell $190,280,000 in bonds to address growth, safety and security, and the aging and evolving needs of our campuses.
- Proposition D gives the district authorization to sell $54 Million in bonds for technology devices, infrastructure, and upgrades.
- Proposition E gives the district authorization to sell $3 Million in bonds to ensure that the performing arts facilities at all campuses are equitable.
- Proposition G authorizes the district to sell $76 Million in bonds for the design and construction of a new, district-wide career and technology education center.
- Proposition H authorizes the district to sell $43,924,000 in bonds for the purchase of land, design, and construction of affordable teacher housing in Pflugerville.
