Pflugerville ISD Libraries are encouraging students to splash into summer by diving into a good book. And thanks to a number of summer programs and offerings, it will be easier than ever to do just that.

PfISD Libraries has announced new summer hours and options for the campus libraries. Beginning Monday, June 22 through July 30, six campus libraries will be open one day a week in the summer for students to check out books, while another six campus libraries will be available for curbside pickup once a week.

For open campus libraries, parents of elementary and middle school students must accompany students during their visit and will need to sign a Pflugerville ISD COVID-19 Screening form for the family. All individuals will need to have their temperature taken, are required to wear a mask and utilize the hand sanitizer provided upon entering the library. The libraries will not be allowed to exceed 25% of their posted total capacity. The library will only be available for check outs. No congregating or using the computers for anything other than to search the catalog will be allowed.

At curbside pickup libraries, parents and students will use a summer library account that is created for them by the librarian. To get an account, fill out the form linked here. Instructions on how to log in, place holds and how the books will be picked up will be sent via email.

The district has developed a Keep PfISD Reading website to provide more resources for parents and students. This site will also house the summer library options as well as a new summer reading challenge the district is encouraging students to participate in.

Starting this week, students are asked to post photos of themselves to social media, with their parents’ permission, using the hashtags #PfISDReads and #KeepPfISDReading. Each week of the challenge has a different themed photo to take, like reading a book outdoors. Check the website and PfISD’s social media accounts to see what the challenge is each week.
