PfISD Summer Reading Program

June 8, 2021

Our PfISD Libraries will be hosting a summer reading program for students. This year’s theme is “Reading Colors Our World” that invites students to explore the outdoors and read.

This year’s summer reading program also includes an online course for both parents and students. Grades 2-12 can sign up for the course through Canvas while the Pre-K through 1st grade program will be through Seesaw. Students can earn badges and win prizes for their participation in the online classes and activities.

Parents or students can sign up for the 2nd-12th course at The link to register for the PreK-1st class is

The program includes books and maker kits with activities designed to get students outdoors this summer with fun learning materials. The materials for the program will be distributed at three campuses during summer meals services. Books and maker kits may be picked up at Mott Elementary, Timmerman Elementary and Weiss High School on June 15, June 29 and July 13. Mott and Timmerman will also serve as pickup sites on July 27. Meal services pickup is from 9:15-9:45 a.m.

The June 15 pickup will include a garden kit, June 29 will include a paper circuit kit. July 13 will feature an art kit, and July 27 will close the summer program with a cooking kit.

Each week’s pickup with be available while supplies last at each site.

In addition to the summer reading program, PfISD Libraries have added a Story Walk activity to four campuses. Parents and students are welcome to walk through the activity outside the school and read the progressive story posted on the signs. Students are encouraged to participate in the Story Walk when they come for meal services pick-up.
