Pflugerville ISD Announces Teachers of the Year for 2022-2023

Pflugerville Independent School District (PfISD) held its annual Employee Recognition Banquet on May 11, 2023, where the Teachers of the Year were announced. Allie Ribble-Salazar of Brookhollow Elementary was named the PfISD Elementary Teacher of the Year, and Quincy Holland of Dessau Middle School was named the PfISD Secondary Teacher of the Year.

In her nomination, Lisa Harris, the principal at Brookhollow Elementary, praised Allie Ribble-Salazar's approach to teaching, saying, "When you step into her classroom, there is no doubt that it’s student-centered with ongoing engagement. Allie is the definition of 'an educator that handles hard better!'"

Lacey Ajibola, principal at Dessau Middle School, commended Quincy Holland's dedication to his students, saying, "Mr. Holland has a quote on his wall, 'Go Beyond Plus Ultra.' We believe he lives by this motto."

The winners received gifts from The Pflugerville Education Foundation, Dell, and Herff Jones. In addition to the Teachers of the Year, PfISD also announced the Elementary and Secondary District Humanitarian, Rookie Teacher of the Year, and District Support Staff of the Year. 

Humanitarian of the Year

  • Theresa Grillo, Murchison Elementary, Elementary Humanitarian of the Year

  • Chris Gregory, Cele Middle, Secondary Humanitarian of the Year

Rookie Teacher of the Year

  • Milcha Andavazo, Delco Elementary, Elementary Rookie Teacher of the Year

  • Anna Speichinger, Pflugerville Middle, Secondary Rookie Teacher of the Year

District Support Staff of the Year

  • Jasmine Santiago, Aramark Employee of the Year

  • Miguel Horta, Maintenance Employee of the Year

  • Ruben Munoz, Grounds Employee of the Year

  • Lukas Sammler, Technology Employee of the Year

  • Sandra Madrigal, Custodial Employee of the Year

  • Mayra Kyler, Transportation Employee of the Year

PfISD Superintendent, Dr. Douglas Killian, congratulated all the honorees, stating, "We are fortunate to have such talented and dedicated teachers and staff in our district. They exemplify the best of what PfISD has to offer, and we are proud to recognize them."

Finally, PfISD honored its 42 retirees for their dedicated service to the district.
