H-E-B Excellence in Education Award Finalist
April 6, 2023
Last week, H-E-B announced the finalists for the retailer’s 21st annual Excellence in Education Awards program, with Pflugerville HS Principal Zack Kleypas named a finalist for the Principal in Secondary Education Category.
Kleypas has been nominated for the Principal in Secondary Education award, which honors principals who have achieved excellent standards at their school.
Kleypas is very adamant about the visibility of his leadership to the students at PHS. He walks through the hallways, pops into classrooms, and builds a strong culture with his students. Dr. Killian expressed remarks about Mr.Kleypas and his work ethic, “he dedicates so much time to giving of himself and to his students….wherever he is at, he takes on the campus culture and has added to the history of success.”
H-E-B asked community members to nominate Texas teachers, principals, and staff members to be evaluated based on their professional experiences, educational philosophies, and achievements in and out of the classroom.
Each nominee has been carefully selected by a panel of judges who consist of former winners, administrators, and university and community leaders. Finalists and their schools received a cash prize of $1,000 and will have the opportunity to compete statewide to win up to $20,000.
PfISD also has two other H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards finalists - Sara Lucas from Hendrickson HS and Erica Herrera from Dearing ES. Winners will be announced on Sunday, April 30.
