Dr. Killian TIA Intro

November 2020

Dear Pflugerville ISD Teachers & Staff,

Recently, a group of district stakeholders came together to consider if PfISD should commit to participating in the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program. The TIA provides districts the opportunity to designate highly effective teachers that can result in additional compensation ranging from $3,500 to $20,000.

Following the initial meeting and considering the stakeholders' positive feedback, we have decided to form a committee to explore the options available to PfISD and design a local TIA designation system to consider. This is not a commitment to participating in the state's TIA program. Rather, we are fully investigating its merits, how it could fit within our District's mission, and how such a designation system would be implemented in PfISD.

Six subcommittees have been formed to focus on specific aspects in designing our own TIA designation system. These subcommittees are in need of volunteers to assist with this project. Subcommittee chairs will be reaching out to some of you or may have already to gauge your interest in assisting with this project.

We are in the early stages of beginning this process and do not have many details to provide at this time other than heads of the subcommittees and any members already added to their respective groups.

I did want to make you aware that we are at least exploring the possibility of implementing a plan for us to participate in the Teacher Incentive Allotment program. We will be providing more information soon, including a website that will house our communications efforts from this committee along with any presentations.

In the best interest of children,
Dr. Douglas Killian
PfISD Superintendent of Schools
