Happy National Nurses Day!
Posted by Heike Cook on 5/6/2022 6:00:00 AM
Happy Friday! I want to start by giving a huge shout-out to all of our teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week! We are blessed at PHS to have high caliber teachers that really care about kids. This has been a long and challenging year as teachers rebuild relationships, fill gaps, and rebuild students’ academic stamina. Please, if you haven't recently, take a moment to send a kind email to your kiddos teachers. I promise you, it will literally make their day!
In addition to Teacher Appreciation Week, this week has been busy with AP Testing. 13 AP exams will be administered by dismissal today by our amazing counseling team. They organized large testing in the small gym and countless smaller testing environments in any open computer lab, classroom, lecture hall, and even their own offices. Hats off to our counselors for what they have already accomplished, and based on our list of important dates below, what is still to come!
Next week on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 we start the official 2022 State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness tests for all students in Algebra 1, Biology, and U.S. History. Note: if students are enrolled in more than one of the courses above, they will take one on May 11th.
Please, please, please, make sure your child brings their chromebook on Tuesday, charged and ready to go! It is encouraged that they bring their district issued Chromebook, as it is constantly updated by the district with the latest testing software.
We also highly encourage students to bring their own headphones. Unfortunately, wireless/bluetooth headphones like Airpods are not allowed. Only headphones that can be plugged into their laptop/chromebook. We will have some for students to use, but if they have their own it would be a huge help if they could bring them that day.
Last Day of ACE - Monday, 5/9/22:
Monday, May 9th, 2022 will be the last day of ACE for this school year. This will allow all of our students receiving intervention for STAAR to meet one last time before the big day. Starting May 10th, ALL students should be reporting to their classes at 9:00am. We are still noticing quite a few students coming in late. Please help us, especially on the May 10th testing day, to plan ahead and leave a few minutes earlier.
On Tuesday, May 10th, we will follow a slightly adjusted testing bell schedule. Students who are testing will be provided a free sack lunch from the cafeteria, or they can bring their lunch from home. Anything brought should be ready to eat (no access to microwaves). Starting Wednesday, May 11th, we will follow our normal Non-ACE Bell Schedule, for the remainder of the year until Finals:
PHS Cheerleaders win 1st place in the National competition in Orlando, Florida:
The PHS cheerleaders have had an incredibly successful competitive season. The team competed in a 2-day national competition on April 29 and May 1st in which scores from each day were combined. On both, day one and day two, the team had zero deductions for mistakes and won 1st place in Orlando Florida! The team won national champion rings and a national champion banner. Their 1st place win enables them to compete virtually with teams that competed recently in 4 other locations across the nation. The virtual competition will be held on June 4th. Please congratulate the 3 time winning, 2 time national, grand champion Pflugerville High School Cheerleaders!!

Chromebook Check/Verificacion de Chromebooks
Students and Parents,
Beginning this week, 2nd period teachers are checking students’ Chromebooks. The purpose of this check is to be sure each student has the Chromebook assigned to him/her, and to be sure the Chromebooks are operational. Teachers will not be collecting Chromebooks.
Students, please be sure to bring your Chromebook to school each day. Be sure you have it with you during your 2nd period class, so your teacher can check your Chromebook.
Parents, please remind your students to bring their Chromebooks to school each day, so their teachers can complete this process.
If you have any questions, please email Sara Dardeau at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Estudiantes y padres,
