Five members of Pflugerville ISD’s Class of 2020 have received scholarships from the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering.
TAME announced recipients of scholarships and other senior awards from across the state, and the five PfISD students combined to receive $8,100 in monies.
Three students received The University of Texas at Austin TAME Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 each. Devon Jorgenson and Tiffany Tran from Pflugerville High School received the award along with Hendrickson High School’s Oneza Vhora. Jorgenson plans to study mechanical engineering. Vhora will study electrical engineering and Tran will major in architectural engineering.
In addition to his scholarship from UT, Jorgenson also received a $200 Outstanding Senior Award from TAME. His fellow PHS classmates Atara Ho and Judy Chen also received the $200 award.
TAME works to encourage participation from women and minorities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers through innovative, hands-on science programming for K-12 students across Texas. TAME offers age-specific programs to spark and support student interest in these areas through class and extracurricular programs and activities.
