Five Pflugerville ISD band students are headed to state after stellar performances at the Texas Music Educators Association All-Area tryouts last weekend.
Hendrickson High School continues its successful year in band with three Hawks making TMEA All-State Band. This comes on the heels of the Hawk Marching Band finishing 10th at UIL State Championship in the fall.
Weiss High School saw two members of its band claim their spots in all-state band.
Both of Weiss’ representatives are members of the woodwinds. Kamryn Moore plays oboe and Chase Cano plays clarinet for the Wolves. Hendrickson saw two members of its low brass section make state with Jake Dossing representing the tubas and Carter Anderson at tenor trombone. Bass clarinet, Alaina Parent, also earned her spot for Hendrickson.
These five musicians will attend the TMEA Convention in February and participate in clinics with world-class directors and conductors along with the other members of TMEA All-State Bands. All-State members are placed into a series of bands and ensembles during the clinics and conclude the convention with a concert featuring the state’s best young musicians.
