Highland Park teacher appears on ‘Family Feud’

A Highland Park Elementary educator appeared on national television last week as part of one of the country’s most popular game shows.

Jason Lubman and his family were contestants on a segment of “Family Feud” that aired Tuesday, Nov. 9. Having spent 25 years in education, Lubman during introductions mentioned his campus and his status as a two-time teacher of the year, which caught the attention of host Steve Harvey.

Nearly a year ago, his wife, Iliana, sent in an audition tape to the show on a whim, which Lubman figured would be the end of it. However, a Zoom meeting with a show producer later, they found themselves in Atlanta for more auditions and filming in May.

Lubman’s wife and sister-in-law, both on the show, are also educators. The team was rounded out by two nieces, one an Army medic and the other a research scientist.

“When my wife sent in the audition tape, I never imagined we'd actually get on the show,” Lubman said. “It was an absolutely amazing experience!”
