Pfightin Panther Band earns UIL Division I

Oct. 20, 2021

Months of preparation and practice came to fruition on Tuesday night for all four high school marching bands in Pflugerville ISD. At the UIL Region Marching Contest, Connally, Hendrickson, Pflugerville and Weiss high schools each earned Division I ratings, making them eligible for the UIL Area Marching Contest this weekend.

Hendrickson, Pflugerville and Weiss each earned Sweepstakes, with all three judges awarding them a Division I rating. Connally High School received two Division I ratings and a Division II from the judges to earn an overall Division I rating for their performance.

For Class 5A Area Marching Contest, judges will rank the bands’ performances, with the top two bands advancing to the UIL State Championship. If more than 15 bands qualify for the area competition, then one band for every five will advance to state.

Entry to the UIL Class 5A Area Marching Contest at The Pfield on Saturday is $5 for all guests school age and above. The schedule for the contest will be finalized once certification of the entries is completed.
