Cele Update: Oct. 27

Posted by Marcial Guajardo on 10/28/2019 12:00:00 PM

Colt Families,
There are so, so many things to be proud of at Cele right now. We completed the first nine-week period, football, volleyball and cross-country season are wrapping up, our Colts are competing in regionals for band and choir, and everywhere you turn, our students are top-performers. Thank you for sending outstanding kids to Cele. I would be grateful enough simply to serve students who are so kind, respectful, and responsible, but when they achieve uncommon success, outperform their peers across the district and region, and finish with undefeated seasons… it makes me smile to see their hard work pay off.

Read on for some of those celebrations and details of the week ahead.

Painless Fundraiser

We are trying something new this year to raise money for our school. In PfISD, we are very fortunate to have the support:

Colt Choir Crushes It

Our choir students competed against other choir students from across the region and did INCREDIBLE! Twenty-four of our choir students earned a Gold Medal performance and will be going to the Region Honors Choir Clinic and Concert in two weeks representing Cele! Pardon me if I brag on our Colts, but no other middle school or high school had as many students advance as Cele. Congrats to Ms. Newcomb and Ms. Everett on the performance!

Colt Band Outstanding at District Auditions

Congratulations to our Colt Band for their performance this weekend at the District Band Auditions. We had 31 band members make the TMEA Alll-District Band, and 18 band members are advancing to TMEA All-Region Band Auditions this Saturday! Outstanding! Congratulations to our Colts and to Ms. Humphrey, Mr. Edwards, and Mr. Centeno!

Veterans Day Ceremony

Please mark your calendars for our annual Veterans Day ceremony Friday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. This is a time-honored tradition at Cele Middle School, and we are very privileged to have been invited to represent Pflugerville ISD at the City of Pflugerville Veteran’s Day Ceremony at Pfluger Park on Monday, November 11. If you will be joining us at Cele on Nov. 8, we respectfully ask that only parents and Veterans attend in consideration of our limited space for seating and parking. Also, please use this form to let us know if a veteran in your family will attend. We would like to be prepared to welcome veterans at 9 a.m. on Nov. 8 for a special reception in the library. As an alternative, I highly encourage the entire community to attend the City Ceremony at Pfluger Park on Nov. 11 with Sen. Ted Cruz as keynote speaker.

Your Vote Matters! PfISD 2020-2021 District Calendar

The Pflugerville ISD instructional calendar is the result of a framework developed through collaboration between community, staff and district leadership. The framework is intended to balance the needs of all stakeholders, especially our students and teachers. Our District Academic Advisory Council (DAAC) is soliciting your feedback as part of their calendar development process. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey and to make sure your voice is considered. www.surveymonkey.com

Parent Survey

Below is a link to a School/Family/ Community Partnership Evaluation form. We will use this survey to assess school-wide progress in strengthening partnerships between Cele personnel, Cele families and community members. We welcome any feedback we gain from the answers you provide. Additionally, we will be having a meeting on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. at Cele lead by Cody Beseda, one of our teachers on campus, to discuss and seek more detailed feedback in the areas defined by the survey. Thank you for your participation. Evaluation form

Late Bus now Available

Parents, did you know that we have transportation available for Cele students who want to stay for tutorials or participate in clubs on Tuesday and Thursday? Cele students once again will have a late bus available to allow more students to take advantage of the assistance and opportunities offered after school. In order to be allowed on the bus, students must have made arrangements in advance with parents and a teacher to stay after school. A teacher will verify that the student was present for the planned activity. Students must know their regularly assigned bus number and their address. Buses will depart school at approximately 5 p.m. and travel time home will depend upon how many stops are required.
