TIA Stipend FAQs:

1. When is the 2025-2026 TIA payout date for stipend-eligible designated teachers?

PfISD anticipates the payout date will be on Friday, July 31, 2025. Statute requires that all 2025-2026 TIA funds, including stipend payments to eligible teachers, be expended by August 31, 2026. (See stipend eligibility here.)

2. Are TIA stipends TRS eligible?

Yes, TIA stipend payments are considered creditable compensation by the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas and subject to statutory minimum contribution.

3. Does the employer pay the employer contribution for TRS and federal withholding?

The employer is responsible for submitting the payment to TRS and remitting federal withholdings to the appropriate agencies. However, both employer and employee payroll deductions are taken from the TIA gross allotment amount. For a detailed breakdown of these deductions, please refer to the TIA Stipend Payroll Deductions.

4. It looks like TRS is taken out twice from the stipend. Is this correct?

The TRS Membership Retirement Contribution and the Statutory Minimum Contribution both have an 8.25% contribution. TIA compensation is subject to the Statutory Minimum Contribution in addition to other TRS contributions.
